This past year, we had the privilege to once again work alongside The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) on a series of videos for their 2021 Impact Report and Annual Conference.
The theme of this year’s event was “Emerging Stronger,” and each of the videos shared stories from business owners about their challenges and triumphs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project spanned over several months and culminated in a final set of 8 videos. Here’s a sneak peek into our process!
Remote Filming in 7 States:
The featured businesses were located in Massachusetts, Illinois, Georgia, Colorado, Texas, Florida, and Ohio. That’s quite a geographic span, but remote video made filming a breeze!
After sending out remote video kits (including tripods, ring lights and microphones), we connected with the business owners on a tech session to walk them through setting up their shot and testing their iPhones and webcams.
With individualized questions for each business, we then drew out each of their stories in hour-long interview sessions.
Post-Production:
These inspiring interviews meant we had lots of material to choose from in the editing process! Each story was whittled down into a main video and a social media teaser. The small businesses provided us images to use as b-roll (and we even got to film some remote b-roll with an award winner!).
With graphics to match their branding, these videos were then sent off for English and Spanish captions.
